Photo Gallery Help

The PHOTO GALLERY PAGES are divided into 2 parts.

On the left hand side of the page you will find a brief summary of the CATEGORY you have selected. The selections are:

  • Country .... American, Australian, British, French, German .... etc
  • Era .... Boer War, Pre WW1, WW1, WW2, Post WW2 (excluding) .... Vietnam, Korea, Gulf War, etc. New Era's will be added to the site as they become available
  • Force .... Army, Navy, Air Force, Home Front & Nursing
  • Category .... Uniform (s), Equipment,  Badges & Medals, Aircraft, Ships, Weapons (small, edged & other) & Vehicles

More categories will be added as demand requires, and you may also find some do not have descriptions. These will be included as they are completed.

The right hand side of each page displays the brief descriptions and thumbnails (small photos). Each page has a maximum of 10 thumbnails with a button bar underneath the photos to navigate to the next gallery page

Most of the pages you see on your screen are from a data base. If the data base is being updated or repaired and pages may not display the correct information. If you find a re-occurring problem viewing pages please email us

   TO VIEW FULL SIZED IMAGE AND FULL DESCRIPTION  

If you move your mouse over the thumbnail a hand (can vary depending on your computer) will appear . Click (push down) the LEFT  mouse button and the screen will then change to show the larger image with the full description.

    VIEW THE NEXT (10) GROUP OF THUMBNAILS  

At the bottom of the page below the last thumbnail and brief description there is a 'button bar' . This indicates how many more pages are available for the category you are viewing. Left mouse button click over  ' > ' ( shown right ) will take you to the next 10. The diagram right shows there are another 4 pages of the category to see, up to another 30 thumbnail photos & descriptions. As you go from one page to the next this button bar will change allowing both forward & back navigation of the pages.

   SELECTING  A DIFFERENT CATEGORY  

If you want to change to a different category in the Photo Gallery, move your mouse to the small black arrow (pointing down) and  click the LEFT mouse button.

The drop down MENU ( shown right ) will appear as shown to the right. Then move your mouse onto the category you wish to see, click the LEFT button again to select that section of the Photo Gallery

The page will then change to that section.

General Help

   Navigation     

To help you navigate our site most pages also include the word Back, Previous page or Back to last page.
All of these will take you back ........ to the previous page you had on your screen. ( NB: bookmarks on a page also are classed as a page). At the top and bottom of every page there is a navigation bar. Some pages have additional side bars.

  Browsers    

This site has been designed for use with Internet Explorer 4 & Netscape 4 ( browser ) and higher versions. 

Some pages may not format the way they were intended in earlier versions of IE and Netscape. We have tried to ensure there is not too much difference between how the pages look . 

If you find you continually have a problem viewing the site or you don't think a page looks 'right', please let us know. The browser programs can be downloaded free of charge, quite often from your internet service provider (ISP) . Otherwise click here for the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer or here for Netscape

  Photographs   

All photos on the web site are JPG & GIF format ( type ).  

If the photos don't look right, you may need toYou will have to work this one out yourself --- we cant help you with everything ! re-set your computer to display 

 A jpeg image generally displays 16 million colours and some computers may only be set to display 256 colours 

To change the settings if your using Windows operating system 9.x and up, go to ... Start>Settings>Control Panel>Display> [Settings Tab at top] ..... have a look at what the 'Colours' menu is set at. Choose a setting higher than 256 colours if the display is set to 256 colours or less

Special interest Articles generally have been added to the web site by Militaria Collectors who have contributed to the site, and contain specific information about a particular subject.
